Ryan Fenton, DPT, MTC

Doctor of Physical Therapy, Owner & Founder

Dr. Ryan T. Fenton DPT, MTC, Certified Dry Needling, earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida. He went on to achieve his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree while graduating with honors from the University of St. Augustine.

Since 1996, Ryan has dedicated his work to research-based Orthopedic Manual Therapy and Rehabilitation of the spine and extremities. He achieved his post-graduate Manual Therapy Certification focusing on spine and joint manipulations. Ryan underwent a manual therapy mentorship in Colorado focusing on Trigger Point and Myofascial Release.

Dr. Fenton is certified in Functional Dry Needling by Evidence in Motion’s Kinetacore.  Ryan has thousand’s of hours of experience dry needling, helping his patients reach their wellness goals.

Ryan has been a member of the American Physical Therapy Association since 1994. 

He lives in Asheville with two boys, and dogs.

Dr. MaryGrace (MG) Currie, DPT

Doctor of Physical Therapy

Specializes in pelvic floor, orthopedic, lymphatic, and neurological conditions

Dr. MaryGrace Currie (MG) is a native to Charlotte North Carolina. MG has a passion for treating pelvic floor related conditions as well as orthopedic, lymphatic, and neurological conditions.

MG went to UNC-Asheville and received a Bachelor of Science in Health and Wellness Promotion to learn the discipline of mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing. MG advanced their academic achievements and obtained a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at Methodist University in Fayetteville North Carolina and graduated in 2024.

MG received her certification in Pelvic Floor 1 from Herman and Wallace which grants the opportunity to treat urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, sexual dysfunction, urogynecologic pain syndromes including, but not limited to, interstitial cystitis, painful bladder syndrome, chronic pelvic pain, and vulvar pain.

MG invites the opportunity to serve others throughout a vulnerable time and aid in the journey of mental, emotional and physical healing.

Outside the office, MG enjoys hiking along the gorgeous blue ridge mountains, reading, listening to podcasts, and gardening.

Jessan Hager, MPT

Physical Therapist

Jessan is a veteran PT with over 10 years experience as a manual-based PT thanks to Grad school at Western Carolina University. He welcomes the challenge of working with difficult cases and enjoys the process of partnering with patients in their journey of managing their difficulties. He has found a specialization in head, neck and face (TMJ/TMD) issues, but employs a head-to-toe approach of assessment and treatment. He believes strongly in the value of persistent assessment which is a benefit of hands-on manual therapy, complimented and reinforced by novel and intentional movement.

He has a variety of professional experience ranging from making awesome websites to managing the ups and downs of garage doors to cafe management. After graduating with an Art Design degree he endeavored in more than a year of travel around the world, crossing several continents overland and a sailing passage across the Indian Ocean.

His true love is at home or on the road with his wife, son, daughter and 2 dogs. He spends his off time camping, hiking, fishing, gardening, cooking etc.

Dr. Cynthia Henson, DPT, earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2011. She continued her education earning her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Western Carolina University in 2015. She has been practicing as a Physical Therapist locally since June 2015.

Cynthia is a dedicated and passionate clinician who strives to provide excellent client care.

As a native to the area, she is blessed to call Western North Carolina her home. She is married to Travis Henson and currently resides in Henderson County.  Cindy and Travis are the proud parents of three boys and one girl.

Cynthia Henson, DPT

Monty Martin, DPT, Cert. DN

Doctor of Physical Therapy

Monty is a native of Macon, Georgia. He moved to Savannah, Georgia to pursue training as a Massage Therapist in 2008. After working in the massage field, he attended Georgia Southern University’s Armstong campus, where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation Sciences with a minor in Psychology. He went on to attend Physical Therapy school at Georgia Southern, and graduated with his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2019.

Since graduation, Monty has worked in outpatient orthopedic settings, and has worked with specialty populations including patients with headache, orofacial pain, and chronic pain. He has a special interest in manual therapy techniques, and has taken continuing education in dry needling and spinal manipulation through the American Academy of Manipulative Therapy.

When he’s not working, he enjoys spending time with his wife and their three cats (he will gladly share pictures), playing guitar, reading, writing, and hiking in the beautiful Western North Carolina mountains.

Ama Olson, DPT

Doctor of Physical Therapy

Ama Olson graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Spanish in 2007 from Berea College, KY and studied abroad and traveled in El Salvador, Ecuador and Spain during this time. After graduating from Berea, she lived in Hawaii for almost 10 years where she lived in an intentional community, taught aerial dance and yoga.

The time spent as a teacher inspired Ama to study physical therapy. In 2021, Ama received a Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Regis University in Denver, CO.

She currently has a YouTube channel bodyreset321 where she teaches Yoga Nidra or Non-Sleep Deep Rest practice as she believes a rest practice is the foundation for physical healing.

She received her certification in Physiotherapy Scoliosis Specific Exercises 1 from the Barcelona Scoliosis Physical Therapy School (BSPTS) based on the original Schroth Method which uses a 3-dimensional postural awareness and specific breathing techniques to improve spinal alignment and stability for young people who have scoliosis, hyperkyphosis and other spinal disorders

She believes that healing is a unique journey for each person, involving learning about and building a relationship with their body to actualize physical comfort and live more purposeful lives, and she is honored to assist in this process.

Born and raised in this vibrant community, Alex knows the heartbeat of the Hendersonville-Asheville community, the outdoor wonders of the region, and the health-conscious mindset that we are known for. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dr. Alex shares a beautiful love story with his wife Shannon, whom he’s been with since their high school days. Together, they cherish their time with their dogs, friends, and family, explore new places, and play Spikeball (if you don’t know, you should definitely check it out). Their zest for life mirrors the energy Alex brings to patient care, creating an atmosphere of warmth and positivity that is truly remarkable.

Tisha Brewer

OFFICE MANAGER

Originally from Canada, Tisha has called the mountains of Western North Carolina home for more than 30 years. A self-described crazy cat lady and pop culture junkie, Tisha is a homebody who also enjoys outdoor fun such as hiking and kayaking. She places great value on giving back to her community with a special emphasis on our underserved neighbors.

At the 1on1 PT front desk, Tisha wears many hats and takes great pleasure in helping all of our patients. She lives in Alexander with her multi-generational family and six (yes, six!) cats.
