Ryan Fenton, DPT, MTC
OWNER, DOCTOR OF PHYSICAL THERAPY
Dr. Ryan T. Fenton DPT, MTC, Certified Dry Needling, earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida. He went on to achieve his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree while graduating with honors from the University of St. Augustine.
Since 1996, Ryan has dedicated his work to research-based Orthopedic Manual Therapy and Rehabilitation of the spine and extremities. He achieved his post-graduate Manual Therapy Certification focusing on spine and joint manipulations. Ryan underwent a manual therapy mentorship in Colorado focusing on Trigger Point and Myofascial Release.
Dr. Fenton is certified in Functional Dry Needling by Evidence in Motion’s Kinetacore. Ryan has thousand’s of hours of experience dry needling, helping his patients reach their wellness goals.
Ryan has been a member of the American Physical Therapy Association since 1994.
He lives in Asheville with two boys, and dogs.

Cynthia Henson, DPT
STAFF PHYSICAL THERAPIST
Dr. Cynthia Henson, DPT, earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2011. She continued her education earning her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Western Carolina University in 2015. She has been practicing as a Physical Therapist locally since June 2015.
Cynthia is a dedicated and passionate clinician who strives to provide excellent client care.

Cindy
As a native to the area, she is blessed to call Western North Carolina her home. She is married to Travis Henson and currently resides in Henderson County. Cindy and Travis are the proud parents of three boys and one girl.

Katherine Hendrick, DPT
STAFF PHYSICAL THERAPIST
1 on 1 Physical Therapy loves having Dr. Katherine B. Hendrick, DPT as part of the team.
Voted Best Physical Therapist in WNC by the Mountain Xpress Readers Poll (2nd Place in 2018,) Katherine earned her doctorate in physical therapy at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston in 2016. Prior to becoming a doctor of physical therapy, Katherine was a yoga instructor while obtaining her Bachelor’s degree in exercise science at Appalachian State University in 2013.
Katherine applies numerous hands-on techniques including myofascial release, trigger point dry needling, neurologic dry needling, cupping, taping, Astym, gua sha, joint mobilizations and joint manipulation as well as other techniques and teaches specific exercises to optimize functional movement, decrease pain, improve quality of life and help patients to achieve their maximum potential.

She enjoys running, hiking, mountain biking, riding horses, kayaking, rock climbing, being outside, cooking and playing violin. She would like to learn more about gardening and beekeeping.

Ama Olson, DPT
STAFF PHYSICAL THERAPIST
Ama Olson graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Spanish in 2007 from Berea College, KY. She also volunteered for three months in El Salvador and studied abroad for a year in Ecuador during this period of time.
After graduating from Berea, Ama spent three months traveling around Spain and then moved to Hawaii for nine years. While in Hawaii, she lived at Kalani Honua, an intentional community retreat center, for 2 years and taught aerial dance and yoga for 2 and 6 years respectively.
The time spent as a teacher inspired Ama to go back to school and study physical therapy. In 2021, Ama received a Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Regis University in Denver, CO. While in school, she participated in leadership, intercultutural and interprofessional development training.
Ama’s experience includes working at settings with orthopaedic, sport and vestibular populations. She has an integrated approach to PT and utilizes a variety of skills including dry needling, joint manipulation/ mobilizations to spine and extremities, IAST, pain neuroscience education, relaxation and breathing techniques, and therapeutic exercise to assist patients to meet personal goals and live a healthier, more purposeful life.

Jessan Hager, MPT
STAFF PHYSICAL THERAPIST
Jessan is a veteran PT with over 10 years experience as a manual-based PT thanks to Grad school at Western Carolina University. He welcomes the challenge of working with difficult cases and enjoys the process of partnering with patients in their journey of managing their difficulties. He has found a specialization in head, neck and face (TMJ/TMD) issues, but employs a head-to-toe approach of assessment and treatment. He believes strongly in the value of persistent assessment which is a benefit of hands-on manual therapy, complimented and reinforced by novel and intentional movement.
He has a variety of professional experience ranging from making awesome websites to managing the ups and downs of garage doors to cafe management. After graduating with an Art Design degree he endeavored in more than a year of travel around the world, crossing several continents overland and a sailing passage across the Indian Ocean.
His true love is at home or on the road with his wife, son, daughter and 2 dogs. He spends his off time camping, hiking, fishing, gardening, cooking etc.

Heidi Wheildon
OFFICE MANAGER
I am office manager here at 1 on 1 Physical Therapy. I moved to Asheville from England in July 2018 with my husband. I have a four legged best friend named Martha the German Shepherd. I have been with 1 on 1 Physical Therapy since November 2019 and love the team. Thank you Asheville for giving me a fulfilling, fun and exciting new life.
