What Our Patents Are Saying

“Ryan has been a life-saver! My weekly PT visits have changed my life – my horrible shoulder pain is almost gone, I highly recommend him!”

Julie S.

“I was referred to Ryan by a friend to help me with my migraine headaches. Through his one on one care he has helped me greatly reduce my migraines in frequency and severity. I have had migraines since the age of 8 and have tried numerous medications and other treatments over the years to help me. Thanks to Ryan I am having the longest stretches between headaches I have ever had and am still seeing improvement. I have also gained mobility in my neck and could not be happier with my results.”

Jeff T.

“Ryan is amazing. He is more than a physical therapist, he does deep tissue work that really helped some chronic pain issues. I was amazed by the relief that I got after just a few short times with Ryan. I would highly recommend him for your physical therapy needs.”

Specialty Services

Joint Mobilization

Joint Mobilization

Joint and spine mobilization involve the movement of joint surfaces to increase mobility and alleviate pain.  The main aim of joint mobilization is to restore the normal joint play that might have been compromised by damage or injury.

Dry Needling

Dry Needling

Dry needling, also known as myofascial trigger point dry needling, is the use of either solid filiform needles or hollow-core hypodermic needles for therapy of muscle pain, including pain related to myofascial pain syndrome.

Orthopedic Manual Therapy

Orthopedic Manual Therapy

Manual therapy is any form of hands-on treatment that is designed to help a part of the body function better. Injury, disease, swelling, or surgery often leaves joints and soft tissue inflamed and painful with limited flexibility and mobility.

Therapeutic Exercise

Therapeutic Exercise

Therapeutic exercises are specific exercises meant for correcting specific problems. The focus of the therapeutic exercise is on regaining flexibility, strength, and endurance related to specific physical problems.

Chronic Headache Treatment

Chronic Headache Treatment

The physical therapists at 1on1 PT use a variety of techniques to diagnose and treat chronic headaches including manual therapy, exercises, and patient education on topics such as relaxation.

Calf Massage

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger point therapy often referred to as myofascial release, involves the application of gentle yet firm pressure to specific areas along the body, known as pressure or trigger points. This pressure is provided by the hands of physical therapist trained in pressure point release.

Spinal Manipulation

Spinal Manipulation

Spinal Manipulation is a technique that treats back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, headaches and other musculoskeletal conditions via the application of forceful skilled passive movent to the spinal facet joints to treat dysfunctional areas in the spine to restore the spine’s mobility, reduce pain and assist in the body’s natural healing processes.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial Release

Myofascial release is a manual therapy technique that focuses on pain believed to arise from myofascial tissues — the tough membranes that wrap, connect and support your muscles.

The focused manual pressure and stretching loosens up restricted movement, leading indirectly to reduced pain.

Balance Training

Balance Training

Approximately one-third of people over the age of 65 and almost half of the people over the age of 80 will fall at least once this year. Falls can lead to injuries that significantly decrease your quality of life and restrict you from leading an active and independent lifestyle.

About Our Practice

Frustrated with the limitations and inconsistency of treating patients in a large physical therapy clinic, Dr. Fenton decided to open his own practice.  Operating as a small private practice allows the doctors at 1on1 Physical Therapy to provide consistent treatment, one patient at a time.

When you choose 1on1, you will see the same doctor at each visit.  We will provide you with our direct attention and focus, which helps us understand your needs, challenges, and goals while also getting to know you better.

I had not been able to raise my right arm over chest height for 3 months. Went to a doctor, and he talked about surgery and cutting into my bones....agrhh! Then IN ONE VISIT to 1 on 1 Physical Therapy, I was raising my arm up again over my head!!! Am now working on permanently strengthening my shoulders with them.

I’ve struggled with back issues for years and have tried so many things to try to bring myself back to where I used to be. This is the first time I’ve felt like I have a team supporting me in my goals and dedicating time to the process. I am finally regaining strength I haven’t had in a long time and I couldn’t recommend Ryan and his team more. If you’re looking for a knowledgeable provider with endless tools to support you these are your people!

Ryan Fenton is a nice guy and a fantastic PhD PT who has healed every problem I've had over the last decade -- back, knee, hip, neck and balance -- and he worked out an exercise routine to help me through old age which is working well so far. He also diagnosed my husband's thigh problem immediately while watching his uneven gait and that is solved now. Ryan's assistants have all been great and nice as well. Plus, he's easy to reach and knows the ins and outs of Medicare and other types of insurance. It's worth a substantial drive to see him!

Ryan Fenton with 1on1 Physical therapy is the best there is in Asheville. I came to him with a shoulder injury and he proceeded with massaging techniques and dry needling that helped me become healthy again. Highly recommend to anyone who needs personal, and efficient PT in the AVL area.

After have a double knee replacement I was worried about getting back to the very active and physical lifestyle I once had. The gang at 1 on 1 help me not only meet those goals but greatly exceed them. In fact, I was up and getting it way ahead of schedule. The whole crew listened to my feedback of how i was feeling at each visit and we adjust to it each time. I highly recommend 1on1 Physical Therapy!!

After a car accident in 2017 I was injured and was attending PT for a few years (in another state) on and off. After moving to Asheville I wanted to continue my care. I was directed to 1 on 1 Physical Therapy. I was so impressed after my first visit. ... and I continue my care there each visit feeling better than the last. Attending PT at 1 on 1 I have been given attention and care that is unmatched. The therapist really know their stuff! I honestly feel I have known everyone there for years because they are so inviting. I highly recommend their services!

Stop looking. This is where you need to be. I've had various injuries over my life (yay athletic?) but this is the first physical therapist I've worked with that genuinely CARES. But it isn't just the main Doc (Ryan) - it's all of them. I was lucky enough to be treated by two folks there and I cannot express my gratitude. They don't force you into anything you don't want to do, their music is entertaining (as is front desk staff!! Love Heidi!), but they definitely offer a motivating nudge when you need it to help you get better (who else hates Dry Needling? Yes, well, they're right. It works and they do it correctly here). I hate that I was injured, but I'm glad to have found a place that actually wants to help me get better.

Simply the best PT. I am in my late 60s, and have had many orthopedic injuries in a sports-filled life....and thus had many experiences with PT. Ryan is the best! Spends an hour 1 on 1 with each patient, providing extensive priceless information on how to heal and strengthen, wonderful hands on treatment, curative dry needling, and a friendly, invitational atmosphere. The best!
